Better send us Jolly Roger flag.”—This is the wording of a telegram sent today by the Mayor, Mr T. Jordan, to the Reserve Bank authorities in Wellington. Mr Jordan said that as a member of the National Liberty Loan Committee he had repeatedly made requests that the Wairarapa Liberty Loan figures should be separated from those of Wellington . The secretary of the National Committee had promised to publish the Masterton figures if they were supplied to him. The figures had been sent, but so far had not been published by the committee. W.W.S.A/S RECORD SUM OF £6860 COLLECTED. A sum of £6860 was raised as the direct result of efforts by the Masterton Women’s War Service Auxiliary. This amount, it is stated, should stand comparison with similar efforts in any part of New Zealand. Mrs A. Whittaker, the commanding officer, and 14 members of the unit were responsible for this result. They sold bonds during bond wagon and other street appeals in the course of the campaign in Masterton.
