LATEST OFFICIAL FORECAST WIDESPREAD RAIN. SLOW IMPROVEMENT LATER. The following official weather report and forecast was issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, at noon today:— DISTRICT FORECAST: Fresh to strong south-easterly to southerly winds. Weather dull, with widespread rain and drizzle, at times. Temperatures cool. FURTHER OUTLOOK: Slow improvement. The Waingawa sub-station, P.W.D., reports as follows for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. yesterday:—Shade temperature, maximum, 49.5; minimum, 35; terrestrial, 29; sunshine, 6 minutes; frost, 1.4 degrees. Up till 9 a.m. today: Shade temperature, maximum, 49; minimum, 42; terrestrial, 34; rain, 135 points. PHASES OF THE MOON. JULY. Full Moon July 17 Last Quarter July 24
