HARRIER ACTIVITIES
KIATERE CLUB. AN INVITATION RUN. On Saturday merpbers and supporters spent an enjoyable afternoon, the occasion being an invitation to members who are training in the R.N.Z.A.F. to take part in a friendly run from their camp, over a distance of 31 miles, with a "run-in” over the last quartermile. The trail, w.hich was laid by G. Hays and Alister McDonald, embraced a variety of country. W. McDonald won narrowly from J. R. Boscowan, with L. Francis third. Three new members attended, making the membership 20. The club is fortunate in having as members Air Force men who have run for clubs in Auckland, Christchurch and Dunedin. Members were later entertained at afternoon tea, which was much enjoyed.
Next Saturday a race will be held from the residence of the club captain, W. McDonald, 144 Essex Street. A 5mile open handicap will be for seniors, with 2j miles for juniors, starting at 2.30 p.m. A training run will be held on Thursday night, starting outside the Soldiers’ Club at 7.30 o’clock.
