CARTERTON
LIBERTY LOAN (“Times-Age” Special.) Assisted by the American Marine Band, which played a splendid programme of music, the Patriotic Committee, together with lady members of the E.P.S., yesterday did good business in connection with the Liberty Loan, the sum of £3,395 being invested. Members of the band were entertained in the Masonic Hall at afternoon tea which was provided and supervised by lady members of various organisations. Personal Items. The chairman of the Wairarapa Rugby Football Union (Mr K. G. Fairbrother) at last night’s meeting referred to the death of Mr W. McKenzie, and a vote of condolence was passed with the relatives. Mr and Mrs Warren Heally and family left Carterton yesterday to take up their residence in Wanganui. Mrs Hawke, of Clareville. has found it necessary to enter the Masterton Public Hospital for treatment. Maori War Effort. A dance will be held in the State Theatre, Carterton, tonight, In aid of the Maori'WarEffort. Udy’s Orchestra will provide the music. REGENT THEATRE “EAGLE SQUADRON.” The programme tonight has for its chief feature, the thrilling drama, “Eagle Squadron.”
