RACING CONFERENCE

MEETING IN WELLINGTON. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Racing Conference was held today, Mr H. R. Chalmers presiding. The rules of racing were amended to empower owners to train their own horses, and to appoint any . person whose licence was not for the time being suspended to take charge of a horse or horses at any race meeting at which the employer was not present. Provision was made for stipendiary stewards to issue emergency rider certificates where insufficient amateurs were available for gentlemen rider races. Officers were elected as follow: President, Mr H. R. Chalmers (Wellington); vice-president, Mr W. C. Motion, Auckland; executive, Dr. MacGregor Grant (Auckland), Messrs A. S. Elworthy (Canterbury), L. C. Hazlett (Dunedin), T. E. Coates (West Coast), F. D. Kelly (Hawke’s Bay), W. T. Hazlett (Southland), the Hon. J. McLeod (Taranaki). Messrs G. C. Glenn (Wanganui), H. H. Green (Wellington).
