UNENDING ATTACKS

ON SICILY & SARDINIA AIRFIELDS & OTHER TARGETS BLASTED. WEAK ENEMY RESISTANCE. LONDON, July 8. 11l the Mediterranean yesterday, heavy all-clay attacks were made on a/group of airfields round Gerbini, in Sicily. Nineteen separate raids were made. This was the third successive day of continuous attacks on these airfields and installations. Enemy resistance was again weak. Not a. single attacking machine came up. Palermo was again bombed, besides other targets in Sicily. Sardinia is also getting its share of bombing. Three airfields have been pounded by R.A.F. Wellingtons. All these operations cost the Allies five aircraft. The enemy lost ton.
