SMUTS MAJORITY

LIKELY TO BE AT LEAST MAINTAINED IN THE SOUTH AFRICAN ELECTION. FIFTH OF THE ELECTORS IN FIGHTING FORCES. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 10.5 a.m.) RUGBY, July 7. The present impression in London is that the South African Government will at least maintain its majority in today’s general election. The final result, however, will not be known ror two’ or three weeks, owing to the dispersal count of a fifth of the electorate in the fighting forces. General Smuts has said that he wants the election to be of a decisive character.
