METHODIST CHURCH
LADIES’ GUILD. MEETING IN MASTERTON. At the monthly meeting of the Masterton Methodist Ladies’ Guild, Mrs Goodman presided over a fair attendance of members. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames Hendry, Keltic, Daysh, Shoosmith and Miss Ninnes. Votes of sympathy were passed to Mrs A. J. Daysh in the loss of her mother, Mrs Gillions and to Mrs H. S. Kings in the death of her brother. Mrs Speight provided the following happy thought: "The more you do for others, the less you do for yourself.” Arrangements were made for the Men’s Fellowship Tea on Tuesday. July 13. Members were requested to send along contributions to the schoolroom during the afternoon. A most interesting chapter in the autobiography of Annie Swan was read by Mrs Speight, who stated that most of - 'the joy in Annie Swan’s life was derived from being able to help those in less fortunate circumstances. Mesdames Fly and Trevorrow were in charge of the “bring and buy” table. Sewing and knitting was done for the Red Cross Society during the meeting. Afternooan tea was served by the tea hostesses, Mesdames Barnes and Griffiths. A vote of thanks was accorded to all the ladies who had helped during the meeting.
