SOCIAL GATHERING MEMBER OF NAVY ENTERTAINED. (“Times-Age” Special.) At a large gathering in the Anglican Hall, Mr P. Stewart, who has joined the Navy, was the guest 0 honour. Dancing, interspersed with games and musical items, provided an excellent programme for those present. Miss M. Wilson gave a vocal item which was much appreciated. Miss C. M. Wilson, principal of the District High School, outlined Mr Stewart’s progress as a scholar during his 2A years’ attendance. Mr Trim, Scoutmaster, spoke concerning the guest and Mr H. Rogers in connection with the Stewart family. Mr Wakelin, on behalf of the football chib, presented Mr Stewart with a cheque and a letter containing good wishes and autographed by his team mates, officers of the club and friends. Mr R. Capes also spoke. Mr Stewart suitably replied. Three cheers were given for Mt mid. Mis Wakelin, who had helped to make the gathering such a success. A Monte Carlo foxtrot was won by Mr Dave Monaghan and Miss R. Johanson, and a statue waltz by M. Southey and Miss H. Davis. In an educational test in Wellington for entrance into the Royal Now Zea land Navy, Mr Stewart came top of a class of fifty. Personal Items. Pilot Observer Ron Payne spent the weekend with Mr and Mrs A. Fredoricksen. . , Ptes. Tuckett, M. Fredericksen and F. Herbert are on leave in the district. Misses M. Brittian and S. Green spent the weekend in Wellington. Mr Crosby, Trentham, has taken up his duties as stationmaster at. Eketahuna. ' ■
