RED CROSS SOCIETY
VOLUNTARY AIDS. COURSE OF TRAINING AND LECTURES. An intensive course of training and lectures for Voluntary Aids was conducted this week under the auspices of the Country Districts sub-centre of the Red Cross Society. Twenty-five candidates sat for the 'home nursing examination and all passed, seven gaining honours. The work in the first aid group was also of a high standard, and some of the members are now in hospital doing their practical training. A visit of inspection was made to the Masterton Hospital where a lecture on ethics was given and nurses in the preliminary school demonstrated different nursing techniques. Physical and foot drill were also taught and the evenings devoted to social activities.
The Centre wish to thank Mrs L. Parsonson for her untiring efforts as lecturer, the members of the Country Districts Red Cross for serving lunch each day, the Women's Division of the Farmers’ Union for the use of their room, Dr. Berney and the nurses who assisted with examinations. Lieutenant Nuttall, and the matron and staff of the Masterton’ Hospital.
