WELLINGTON COMPETITIONS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The senior championship competitions played on Saturday by the Wellington Rugby Union resulted as follows:— Jubilee Cup: Marist Brothers' Old Boys IS beat Wellington College Old Boys 5: Petone 9 beat Athletic 6: Army 25 beat Wellington 12; Poneke-Oriental 11 beat Hutt 3. Hardham Cup: Johnsonville 29 beat Air Forte A 0; Air Force B 9 beat Miramar 3: Navy 16 beat Seatoun 9; University 14 beat Eastbourne 11. WAIRARAPA GAMES CARTERTON BEAT ARMY TEAM. HARD AND WILLING PLAY. In a hard and willing match played at Featherston on Saturday afternoon in the senior section of the Wairarapa Rugby Union's competition, Carterton beat an Army combination by 15 points to 9. The halftime score was 9 points to nil in Army team's favour, but Carterton more than made up the leeway in the second spell. For Army McMahon-Box (wing three-quarter) scored a nice try and the rest of the score was made up by two penalties. Following an incident an Army and a Carterton player were ordered off the field. Tries were scored for Carterton by Phillips and Tilyard. Mahupuka kicked three penalties. Tne Air Force senior team beat the Combined team by 30 points to 13 in an interesting game at Rugby Park on Saturday afternoon. Air Force were too strong for the local team but the latter team put up quite a good showing. Combined team were three players short. Air Force did not take any kicks at goal. In a third grade A game Carterton beat Greytown by 13 points to 5. In a Third grade A match Masterton beat College by 12' points to 11. In the B grade section Masterton beat Carterton by 13 points to 9. FIXTURES FOR SATURDAY. The following are the Wairarapa Rugby Union’s fixtures for Saturday:— Senior: Army v. Air Force, at Featherston, at 1.30 p.m.; Carterton v. Combined team, at Masterton. at 3 p.m. Third Grade A: Carterton v. College, at Carterton. at 2.30 p.m.; Old Boys v. Masterton. at Rugby Park N. 2, at 2.30 p.m. Third Grade B: Carterton v. College, at Masterton, at College, at 3 p.m.; Masterton v. ’ Greytown, at Greytown, at 2.30 p.m.
