RED CROSS SOCIETY V.A. PARADE. (“Times-Age” Special.) The Featherston, Pahautea and Kahu tara sub-centres of the Red Cross Society were associated in connection with a parade and inspection of V.A’s. held before Mrs Herbert, of Pahiatua, I who was accompanied by Mrs Stewart. Mrs Herbert was presented with a posy. The V.A’s. gave a demonstration which was highly praised by Mrs Herbert. Mrs Herbert and Mrs Stewart spoke to those present on the V.A. movement. ’ The Featherston sub-centre entertained those present at afternoon tea. SOLDIERS’ DANCE POPULAR GATHERING. There was a very good attendance at the soldiers’ dance in the Town Hall on Saturday night, these gatherings being very popular and splendidly ed.The music was supplied by Mr L. Daysh’s Orchestra, and extras were played by Misses C. Saba, G. Fraser, N. Tocker and M. Tocker, and Staff-1 Sergeant Savage. Mr P. Habib was M.C. The supper tables were artistically decorated by Mrs Alexander. An iced fruit cake was won by Mrs Day. The supper was provided by the Junior Red Cross Committee. Personal Rems. Miss C. Gee, Christchurch, is the guest of Mrs S. Grant-before leaving foi’ Auckland. LADIES’ GOLF SHIELD COMPETITION. The following is the result of the shield competition played by the ladies’ club on Saturday:—Mrs -L. Benton, 1; Mrs R. Donald and Mrs H. R. Bloxam, equal, 2. ' COSY THEATRE “HOW GREEN WAS MY VALLEY.” • The sensational drama, “Plow Green Was My Valley.” the winner of six Academy Awards, will be shown on Wednesday night. It is a story of the coal mines in Wales and of a proud people, and is one of the most brilliant pictures ever brought to the screen, with Walter Pidgeon, Maureen O’Hara. Donald Crisp. Roddy McDowell, Sara Allgood and Anna Lee in the principal roles.
