SOCIAL GATHERING PRESENTATION TO HOLDERS. (“Times-Age” Special.) The West Taratahi school was well filled, when Lance-Corporal A. Blake and Pte. J. Hultenberg were the guests of honour. At cards the prizes were won by Mrs K. H. Reid and Mr J. Blake. For the dancing the music was supplied by Messrs J. Daysh, C. E. Miller and J. Parker. Supper was provided by the ladies. Mr J. Daysh referred to the high esteem in which their guests were held in the district, and wished them the best of luck and a safe return. He presented each of them with a well-filled pocket wallet. LABOUR PARTY CARD TOURNAMENT. . The weekly card tourney held by the Carterton Committee of the New Zealand Labour Party on Saturday night was a very enjoyable affair. There was a large attendance and the prizes were won as follows:—Ladies: Mesdames Sowman and Gyne (equal), 1. Men: Mr G. Goodin. 1; Mr AV. Morris, 2. Borough Council. The monthly meeting of the Carterton Borough Council Will be held on Tuesday night at 8 o'clock. A special meeting to confirm the rates for the current year will also be held. REGENT THEATRE “JOHNNY EAGER” Finally tonight will, be shown the thrilling drama. “Johnny Eager,” featuring Robert Taylor. Lana Turner, Edward Arnold and Glenda Farrell.
