SCHOOL ASSOCIATION GRANT TOWARD BASKETBALL COURT. (“Times-Age’’ Specia l .) Mrs Hurndell presided at the annual meeting o£ the Carterton Home and School Association yesterday afternoon. Mrs . Mellish tendered her resignation which was accepted with regret. Mesdames Ball and Allan welcomed the president. The balance sheet and report showing a credit balance of £69 9s lOd was adopted. Mrs Hurndell and Mrs Pope were unanimously re-elected president and secretary respectively for the ensuing year. A sum of £5 for. the purchase of basketballs was granted to the headmaster, MiMartin, for school use. The outgoing committee with the addition of the .two new members was elected. It was decided that the sum of £5O, being the association's share of expenses toward the cost of the basketball court, be forwarded to the Wellington Education Board. Personal Items. Mr and Mrs L. R. Sayer, of Dalefield, are on a visit to Napier. The engagement is announced of Betty Jean, younger daughter of Mr and Mrs H. L. Herrick, Kokotau. to Charles Edward, only son of Mr and Mrs A. C. Knutson. REGENT THEATRE “JOHNNY EAGER.” “Johnny Eager," a thrilling drama, will be shown tonight with Robert Taylor and Lala Turner in the chief roles.
