EKETAHUNA
WOMEN’S DIVISION MONTHLY MEETING OF MEMBERS. (“Times-Age” Special.) At the monthly meeting of the Eketahuna branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union, Mrs McAnulty presided over a fair attendance of members. A motion of sympathy was passed to the wife and family of the late Hon. J. G. Coates. It was decided to donate 5s to the Crippled Children’s Society.
It was resolved to ask Mrs K. Groves (Masterton) to be the speaker at the August meeting. The president introduced the speaker, the Rev. Combes, from Pahiatua, who gave an interesting address on world affairs, which was greatly appreciated. On the motion of Mrs Hancock, the speaker was accorded a vote of thanks. The hostesses, Mesdames H. P. Hansen and Albrechtsen, served afternoon tea. BOWLING CLUB MR H. W. GALLAGHER ELECTED PRESIDENT. Mr H. Smith presided over the an- ( nual meeting of the Eketahuna Bowling Club, there being a good attendance of members. Members stood in silence for a few moments as a mark of respect to the memory of the late Mr L. Houlbrooke and the late Mr J. Ammunsen. The election of officers resulted as follows: —Patron, Mr F. Cowlam; president, Mr H. W. Gallagher; vice-presi-dents, Messrs H. Smith, J. Carseldine and S. W. C. Raleigh; secretary, Mr A. Fredericksen (re-elected); treasurer, Mi- R. Herbert; delegate to the Manawatu Bowling Centre, Mr D. H. Butcher; selector, Mr W. J. Hooper; deputy selector, Mi’ W. Hornblow; club recorder, Mr D. H. Butcher; green committee, Messrs Dawson, Raleigh, Preston, Mcßride, Carseldine; match committee, Messrs- Mcßride, Rogers and Butcher; social committee, Messrs Rogers, Taylor and Stuart. The secretary was instructed to forward to Messrs M. R. Herbert, J. Bowyer, and H. Dearie letters of sympathy in their recent illness and wish them a speedy recovery. Personal Items. Mrs H. Brookes, Newman, who had been on a visit to Wellington, has returned home. Mrs Doughtey, Waverley, is the guest of Mrs G. Monaghan, Newman.
