WARNING GIVEN
AGAINST PREMATURE ACTION
IN ENEMY-OCCUPIED TERRITORIES. BROADCAST BY PRINCE BERNHARDT. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 11.25 a.m.) RUGBY. June 20. Speaking, as he said, as “principal liaison officer of the Netherlands forces with the united forces of the Allies,” Prince Bernhardt broadcast tonight to the people of occupied Holland and said: “Because operations will take place against occupied territory, they will be a surprise, not only for the enemy, but also for you. 1 speak to you in advance. Do not, when they come, draw premature conclusions with regard to their scope. Only those at the top know the ultimate intentions.
“The suffering in the occupied territories,” Prince Bernhardt continued, “is fully realised here and the aim is total liberation, not a glorious adventure which would leave behind deeper suffering among you. The Allies count on your faith and steadfastness and on your collaboration at a moment which will be indicated to you from here.”
