ALFREDTON
PATRIOTIC SOCIETY 'successful gathering. . (“Times-Age” Special.) The Patriotic Society held a very successful “games night” on Saturday last there being a very good attendance. The winners at euchre were: — Ladies: Mrs Algie. Men: Messrs O. Walker and R. Low. A competition for a brass bowl donated by Mrs G. Lewis, realised £2 15s and was won by Mr F. Hull. A competition donated by Mr H. Percy realised £2 and was won by Mr J. A. Smith, who handed it back. The following goods were donated and auctioned:—Mixed vegetables from Mr C: Leach; marrow from Miss Doyle; poppy plants donated by Mrs A. Edmonds; sausages, saveloys and walnuts from Mrs R. Kebbell. A letter was read from the Air Force Relations, Wellington, asking for more knitters, as a greater supply of garments were urgently required. Personal Items. Mr McGuinness, who was the guest of his nephew, Mr J. Hartley, has returned to Masterton. Miss B. Edmonds spent the weekend in Palmerston North. Mr and Mrs A. Edmonds have returned home after having spent a few days in Masterton.
