GROWING ANTICIPATION IN ITALY RESPONSE TO PRESIDENT ROOSEVELT. RESISTANCE TO END URGED BY ROME RADIO. (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright! (Received This Day, 9.45 a.m.) LONDON, June 18. Anticipation of a separate peace is growing among the Italians, says the Algiers radio, which adds: “It seems that President Roosevelt’s words have made a deep impression in Italy. Instead 01. joining the critics of the House of Savoy he spoke words of sincere friendship, which have met a favourable echo among the Italian masses.” The Rome radio exhorted Italians to resist any Allied invasion. “We will be fighting tooth and nail until the enemy is wiped out,” an announcer said. ’ “We face these alternatives, firstly to fight to the bitter end and secondly to be subjected to slavery by the English. We have chosen to fight and we will face all risks and make all sacrifices and shall go on until we are victorious. - ’ The Berlin radio said an invasion will prove a blood bath without precedent and that two-thirds of the landing force will be wiped out even before the decisive battle is joined. The Berlin radio’s military commentator said: “It is not necessary to go on administering blows to prove one's strength. The essential thing is to possess strength and know when to use it in time. That is our position now. - ’ MORE DISMISSALS FROM FASCIST CHAMBER. (Received This Day, 9.45 a.m.) LONDON, June 18. The Rome radio states that six more National Councillors have been dismissed. The National Council is the Fascist counterpart of the former Chamber of Deputies. A number of National Councillors were amopg the 126 highly placed Fascists dismissed last week.
