MR C. G. SCRIMGEOUR
A FURTHER STATEMENT. IN REPLY TO MINISTERS. (Bv Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The ' Controller of Commercial Broadcasting, Mr C. G. Scrimgeour. yesterday replied to statements made by the Prime Minister, Mr Fraser, and the Minister of Broadcasting, Mr Wilson, in answer to Mr Scrimgeour’s charges that unfair discrimination was shown in calling him'up for war service. In the course of his statement Mr Scrimgeour alleges that he is being discriminated against and railroaded not by Army officers but by others. “I shall be happy and proud to become a soldier in the Army,” he states. “I have, however, had a long association with aviation and some experience as a pilot. For some time I was club captain of the largest aero club in New Zealand. Therefore I have made a formal application which would permit the authorities to utilise me in the Air Force if they desire. Whatever the case, I desire to take my place side by side with other ordinary citizens in the heat and burden of the battle against Fascism.”
