PROPOSED LIME PIT
OFFER TO COUNTY WITHDRAWN. The offer to the Masterton County Council of a property at Abbotsford oil which it was suggested that a lime pit could be established has been withdrawn. Advice to that effect was received at yesterday afternoon’s meeting of the Masterton County Council from the solicitors acting for the trustees of the estate concerned. Councillor J. W. Colquhoun said it was peculiar that the offer had been withdrawn as Councillor G. Moore had said the offer was made only to the council. Councillor Colquhoun, said he, and others had been accused of being biased. Possibly Councillor Moore could say whether or not the pit would be worked by private enterprise, as the council had advocated. Councillor Moore said he had nothing to say regarding the matter. The chairman, Mr R. E. Gordon Lee, said it was a waste of time discussing the matter as the fact of the offer having been withdrawn washed out the proposal.
