SECOND INGLESIDE
CALEDONIAN SOCIETY GATHERING. SERVING OF THE HAGGIS. There was a large and happy gathering in the Masonic Hall, Masterton, last night when the Wairarapa Caledonian Society held its second Ingleside of the season, for members and their friends. Enjoyable music was supplied by Mr J. Barnes’s Rhythm Boys and the M’s.C., Messrs J. J. Hunter and J. W. Henderson kept proceedings moving with a swing. Pipe Major Murdo McKenzie played the music for the Scottish dancing which was entered into with evident enjoyment, and for the grand march which was followed by the Gay Gordons. With proper ritual the haggis was piped in by Pipe Major McKenzie and carried around the hall by the president, Mr Jock McKenzie, followed by officials of the society. In the absence of the patron, Mr T. S. Arcus, Mr Jock McKenzie gave a well rendered address to the haggis. A savoury supper was served by the ladies’ committee with the assistance of many willing helpers. The haggis, as on past occasions, was made by Mrs Bell. Included in the dances which followed supper were Scottish reels which proved popular.
