NO EVIDENCE
OF ANY RADICAL CHANGE IN ARGENTINIAN FOREIGN POLICY. TEST OF NEW GOVERNMENT. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 9.38 a.m.) RUGBY. June 14. Interest continues in London on the intentions of the new Argentine Government with regard to the Axis Powers, though it is noted that there -so far is no definite evidence of any radical change in foreign policy. The | British-American recognition is. as “The Times” points out, a formal diplomatic act, implying in itself no judgment favourable or unfavourable. The test of the new Government's policy will, in the opinion of “The Times,” be willingness to break with the Axis and to remove the last American centre of Axis intrigue against the United Nations. “The suspension l of all radio communication in secret code or cipher is a step in the right direction and carries out one recommendation of the Pan-A.merican conference at Rio de Janeiro last year, to which Argentina was a party.” “The Times” observes. “Eut any further recommendation to sever diplomatic relations with the Axis still remains a dead letter at Buenos Aires. The prompt recognition of the Ramirez Government by Germany and Italy was doubtless designed tp forestall any inclination, on the part of the new Government to -act more courageously than its predecessor in this respect, and there is so far nothing to show that they have failed in that purpose. The next few weeks will reveal whether General Ramirez proves strong enough to throw off the hesitations and ambitions which marked Dr Castillo's international policy.”
