MASTERTON TOTAL £75,020 YESTERDAY’S SUBSCRIPTIONS. FURTHER TRUST CONTRIBUTION. Masterton's subscriptions to the Third Liberty Loan now total £75,020. Yesterday 30 applications were received, for amounts totalling £5,010. Included in the advance subscriptions was a sum of £l,OOO invested by the Wairarapa Patriotic Association. A decision to invest a further £l,OOO in the Third Liberty Loan in addition to an advance subscription of £B,OOO was made last night by the Masterton Trust Lands Trust. An enthusiastic meeting of group collectors, representative of the business firms of the town was held yesterday, when organisation details were discussed. All indications pointed to the likelihood of a splendid response being made by employees. PROMPT RESPONSE CENTRAL SCHOOL EFFORT. At the assembly at Central School yesterday morning the headmaster (Mr E. G. Coddington) suggested that each class might try to raise £1 to buy a Liberty Bond to present to the School Committee. To his great surprise standard six boys handed him a £1 bond in the afternoon. This was indeed quick work. The other classes, though not so quick, are busy and in the case of certain juniors are going to combine classes to buy a bond. The Service Club of the pupils is going to meet to consider the purchase of a £lO bond. The Parents’ Association has decided to purchase a £lOO bond.
