MAURICEVILLE
GIFT EVENING POPULAR COUPLE GUESTS OF HONOUR. (“Times-Age” Special.) There was a large attendance at the Mauriceville East Hall when Miss Jean McGovern and Mr Norman Myers were guests of honour at a gift evening. A most enjoyable time was spent, the arrangements for the gathering being complete in every detail, and reflecting the greatest credit upon all concerned. The music for the dancing was supplied by Miss Madsen (Hastwells), extras being played by Messrs Braddick and Gyde. Solos were rendered by Miss Eunice Olsen who has an excellent voice and whose singing was greatly appreciated. Mr J. A. Baine was M.C. Mr J. W. Milner, in an appropriate speech, introduced Miss McGovern and Mr Myers, who are very popular with the residents of the district. A large number of useful gifts were received, including a presentation from the Mauriceville Tennis Club. A capable ladies’ committee arranged and supervised the supper. Personal. Mrs R. R. Bishop, of Auckland, and formerly of Mauriceville, and Mrs B. Street, are the guests of Mr and Mrs L. Field, Dryer’s Rock.
