OPAKI

WOMEN’S INSTITUTE ATTRACTIVE DISPLAYS. ("Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the Opaki Women’s Institute was held at the residence of Mrs Harris, Mrs Beetham presiding. Mrs Mannell showed a collection of aprons with most original and attractive trimming. Mrs Jaine exhibited examples of Japanese carving. Members contributed a supply of biscuits for the Seamen's Mission. The monthly competitions resulted: — Best bloom: Mrs Chesterman, 1: Miss lorns. 2: Mrs Harris. 3. Cooking: Mrs Jaine. 1: Mrs Harris. 2; Mrs Beetham, 3. Sewing (felt novelty): Mrs Mannell, 1; Miss lorns, 2; Mrs Dagg, 3. Mrs Wingate invited the Institute to meet at her home. “Kingswell,” Renall Street in July, when the competitions will be scones, aprons and best bloom, and the roll call an economy hint. The speaker at the meeting will be Mrs Dunningham. M.A.
