French people who applaud R.A.F. raids, which they know are an important step towards liberation, are being called “bombardophiles.” Henri Beraud, quisling writer, editor of the infamous “Gringoire,” raves to his few readers: “It is unbelievable that these “bombardophiles’ can applaud our brothers’ murderers with impunity. T];e martyred towns need courageous workers to clear the streets and dig out corpses, and this is done very often under English bombs. Would it not be fair to employ those who are fond of bombing?”
