EGGS & CABBAGES

MEMBER FOR WAIRARAPA SPEAKS IN BUDGET DEBATE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. An outline of what the Government is doing to foster the egg industry was given by Mr Ben Roberts (member for Wairarapa) when he spoke in the Budget debate in the House of Representatives today. He said several thousand pounds had been lent to applicants who were able to prove that they were qualified to conduct poultry farms. Mr Roberts also said he considered that any grower who ploughed in cabbages at 13s a cwt was a monstrosity, because that price was an increase of 33 1-3 per cent on the price for 1941-42.
