PLUNKET SOCIETY

MAURICEVILLE BRANCH ANNUAL MEETING OF MEMBERS. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. (“Times-Age" Special.) There was a small attendance of members at the annual meeting of the Mauriceville district sub-branch of the Plunket Society. Mrs Miller presided and welcomed Mesdames J. Caselberg and Free, and Nurse Humphries, of Masterton.

The report and balance-sheet were adopted. The election of officers resulted as follows:—President, Mrs Miller (reelected); vice-presidents, Mrs J. Wright, Mrs A. McGovern, Mrs C. R. Judd; secretary and treasurer, Mrs R. C. F. Dagg (re-elected). Mrs J. Wright declined nomination for the position of chairwoman, owing to pressure of home duties while her husband was in camp.

Mrs E. Dagg spoke in praise of Mrs Miller's work in the past and urged young mothers to take a more active part in the affairs of the branch. Mrs Caselberg referred to the great interest Mrs Miller had always showed in the Society's work, and said it gave her great pleasure to see Mrs Miller reelected to the position of president. Mrs Free endorsed Mrs Caselberg’s remarks. Mrs Miller briefly replied. Mrs Caselberg gave a very interesting address on Plunket work, urging mothers to take advantage of the facilities offered by the Society. She read a detailed account of the work done by a day nursery in Dunedin, which is under the personal supervision of Dr. Helen Deem.

Mrs Dagg thanked Mrs Caselberg for her address. Afternoon tea was served by Mrs W. Cottle and helpers. A bring and buy table in charge of Mrs E. H. Dagg brought in £1 6s.
