TO EXECUTE CORSICAN HOSTAGES PLEDGE OF MERCILESS REPRISALS. » •- ANNOUNCED BY ALGIERS RADIO. (Bv Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright) LONDON, June 10. The Italian authorities have arrested 300 Corsicans and announced that 10 of them will be shot. Algiers radio has broadcast a formal warning to the Italians that merciless reprisals will be carried out if the hostages are executed. The Algiers announcer added: “There are not only 100,000 prisoners of war in Africa, there are also other Fascists —and these will be the first. According to a report reaching the Fighting French headquaters in London. patriots at Marseilles assassinated 11 Italian soldiers. The Italian authorities immediately ordered largescale arrests and a curfew, but the Germans cancelled the reprisals. Tension is reported to be rapidly mountingin Marseilles, while the underground front elsewhere throughout France is set for action.
