OBITUARY

MR WILLIAM DUTCH. p Mr William (Scotty) Dutch, a respected resident of the Wairarapa, passed away at the Masterton Hospital last night. Mr Dutch, who was born at Dayport, Fifeshire, Scotland, 66 years ago, came to New Zealand about 40 years ago and worked as a shepherd in the Blenheim district. In the 1914-1918 war he served with the Third Canterbury Infantry Battalion. He married in Scotland and returned to New Zealand in 1922 and was employed in the Hawke’s Bay district for 12 years. About nine years ago Mr Dutch came to the Wairarapa and was engaged as a shepherd on various farms. For the past five years he had not enjoyed good health. The sympathy of a circle of friends will be extended to the widow. The funeral will take place in Masterton tomorrow, leaving the chapel of Hyde's Funeral Service, following a service at 3 p.m. for the Masterton Cemetery. P4R WILLIAM BRYANS. Mr William Bryans, of Kopuaranga, died at the Masterton Hospital yesterday at the age of 88 years. Mr Bryans, who was born in Ireland, came to New Zealand about 58 years ago, with two brothers and a sister. He is survived by his sister, Miss Bryans, of Kopuaranga. His two brothers predeceased him. Mr Bryans had been in hospital for the last two months. The funeral took place in Masterton this afternoon.
