WAIRARAPA PATRIOTIC ASSOCIATION TWENTY-SEVENTH ANNUAL REPORT. NET BALANCE OF £21,391. The twenty-seventh annual report of the Wairarapa Patriotic Association, for the year ended March 31, 1943, states: —

“The total receipts from all sources, from the inception of the fund in 1915, down to March 31, 1943, amount to £230,874 4s 6d, and the total payments to £209,482 15s 6d, leaving a net balance of funds in hand at this date of £21,391 9s, a decrease of £327 18s 5d on the previous year. The total cost of administration over 28 years is £lO,965 17s lid, or 4.74 per cent of the total contributions, or 2.49 per cent of the total receipts plus total payments aggregating £440,357. Interest from investments has yielded £42,020 14s 8d gross and £41,953 4s 8d net. Advances to soldiers amount to £105,064 12s 8d; repayments total £70,842 10s 8d and writings off £27,893 6s lid, leaving outstanding £6,328 15s Id. Loans converted to grants during the year amount to £lB7 15s 7d. Income for the year was £509 13s 6d, of which £467 13s 6d was from interest. Expenditure for the year was £837 Ils lid, exceeding income by £327 18s sd, and depleting the funds by that amount. “Outstanding advances to soldiers are classified as follow: —First mortgages, £2,096 14s Id; second mortgages, £l,Bll 4s lid; third mortgages, £902 8s; guarantee, £280; chattels securities, £362 5s 2d; agreement to repay, £2B; sundry, £lBB 14s 3d: unsecured loans, £659 8s 8d; total, £6,328 15s Id. During the year the board sat on twelve occasions, the following business transactions receiving the board’s attention: —Applications for loans, 2; applications for temporary relief, 47; reconsideration of cases, 36; sundry other matters, 36; total, 121. The board extends it thanks to the branch committees for services rendered in supplying reports on various cases and to all kindred societies for like services.” The report is presented by the chairman, Mr H. M. Boddington.
