WEDDING DRURY—PINFOLD (“Times-Age” Special.) A very pretty wedding of considerable interest took place recently at St. Mary’s Church, 'Carterton .when Eileen Margaret, only daughter of Mr and Mrs W Pinfold, of Carterton, was married to 2nd Lieut. Douglas Alan Drury, eldest son of Mr and Mrs A. Drury, of Timaru, the ceremony being performed by the Rev. Father V. McGlone. The church was beautifully decorated by friends of the bride. The bride, who was escorted by her father, looked charming in a model gown of continental silk crepe with hand embroidered insertions on the yoke and waistline. The full sleeves were neatly caught at the wrists, and the full skirt formed a short train. Her beautifully embroidered tulle veil, kindly lent by a friend, was held in place with a coronet of real flowers, matching her trailer bouquet, which consisted of white carnations, chrysanthemums, begonias and maidenhair fern.
The bridesmaids were Miss Amy Hurley, a friend of the bride, as chief, and Miss Olive Drury, a sister of the bridegroom. They both presented a charming appearance in frocks of crushed strawberry georgette over taffeta. On their hair each wore a coronet of real flowers matching their trailer bouquets, which were of deep mauve stocks, asters. violets and maidenhair fern. The duties of best man were ably performed by Sergeant A. J. Pinfold, only brother of the bride, and the groomsman was 2nd Lieut. Frank Avery The ushers were Corporals Bruce Drury and Ted Knutson During the signing of the register, Mrs Temple Young sang sweetly “Ave Maria,” with Miss Berrill at the organ. As the bridal party was leaving the church the bride was presented with a silver horse shoe by little Lawreqce Hurley. After the ceremony the reception was held at the State Theatre, where the bride’s mother, assisted by the mother of the bridegroom, received over a hundred guests. The former wore a prunella ensemble with black accessories and matching shoulder spray. Mrs A. Drury was attired in a navy blue tailored .costume with toning accessories and a shoulder spray. A number of toasts were honoured, including a special toast to the armed forces. Numerous telegrams were received. The table was adorned by a three-tier cake which was made by the bride’s mother. Lieut, and Mrs Drury were the recipients of numerous gifts, including a number of cheques. When Lieut, and Mrs Drury left later for the north, the bride wore a dusky pink frock under a lime green coat, with brown accessories.

The best wishes of members for her future happiness were extended to Sister Banks (nee Eagle), who was recently married. The following officers were elected for the ensuing term: —N.G., Bro. W. McPherson; V.G., Bro. J. Lenihan; Warden, Sister K. Mitchell. The other officers will be appointed after the instal-i lation of the elected officers. Carrington Rainfall. Mr J. H. Roberts, of Carrington, reports that 2.82 inches of rain fell during May. Ten days were wet and the heaviest fall was 60 points on May 7. The rainfall for the corresponding month last year was 10.04 inches. REGENT THEATRE A THRILLING PICTURE. The programme at the Regent Theatre tonight will be headed by the thrilling drama, “Tarzan’s Secret Treasure,” featuring Johnny Weissmuller, tlaureen O’Sullivan and John Shefeld.
