MATARAWA-DALEFIELD MEETING
(“Times-Age” Special.)
Mrs Hughes presided over the monthly meeting of the Matarawa-Dalefi'eld Womens Institute, held in the Matarawa schoolroom. Apologies'for absence were received from Mesdames W. E. Knowles, L. Rogers, H. Knowles, W. Neilson, K. G. Fairbrother and Miss F. Knowles.
Mrs J. Crawford was elected as a new member.
The competitions for the month resulted as follows:—Seniors: Best apron made from flour bag, Mrs E. I. Smith 1, Mrs A. Gallon and Mrs A. Goodin (equal) 2, Mrs W. Ticehurst 3; flowers, man’s buttonhole, Mrs O. Brazendale 1, Mrs A. Goodin 2, Mrs C. Wilson 3. Juniors: Best apron from flour bag, Miss J. Conwell 1, Miss J. Goodin 2, Miss B. Sadler 3; man’s buttonhole, Miss J. Goodin 1, Miss B. Sadler 2, Miss J. Conwell 3.
It was announced that Miss J. Goodin, a junior member, had left Dalefleld, and was now engaged in military work. The hostesses were Mesdames O. Brazendale, H. Bain and Miss G. Conwell, who dispensed afternoon tea.
