Mr and Mrs Geo. Bubb, Longbush, have received cabled advice that Corporal S. G. Bubb is fit and well in the Middle East. Mr I. J. Wilson has been elected secretary of the Canterbury Lawn Tennis Association, succeeding Mr H. W. Armitage, who has resigned owing to ill health. The engagement is announced of Bona Jean, twin daughter of Mr and Mrs H. C. Easton Shannon, and Victor Edwin, elder son of Mr and Mrs M. H. Tippler, Masterton.
Professor A. H. Tocker, has been elected rector of Canterbury University College for three years from March 1, 1943, or till such earlier time as a permanent academic head is appointed.
