ATTACK ON KISKA

MADE BY AMERICAN AIRCRAFT LAST ENEMY REMNANTS. BEING MOPPED UP ON ATTU. LONDON, June 1. On Attu American troops continue the mopping up of the Japanese remnants and have occupied Attu village. Three separate columns of American troops converged from the south, south-west and west and joined forces on Sunday. They met with only weak enemy resistance. On Saturday night alone more than 400 Japanese were killed. American bombers and fighters attacked Kiska on Sunday, starting fires in the camp area.
