BADMINTON CLUB

DANCE ON SATURDAY NIGHT. There was a large attendance at the Badminton Club dance held at the State Theatre, Carterton, on Saturday night. The floor was in good order and the hall and supper-room were artistically decorated. Excellent music was supplied by Udy's Orchestra, while extras were played by Messrs C. K. Goodin and T. Udy. A lucky spot dance was won by Miss T. Goodin and W. Spooner. Mr M. Worsfold was M.C. A band of willing lady helpers under the direction of Miss B. Peteis, served supper. Dance at Belvedere. There was a good attendance of Belvedere and Carrington settlers at the Belvedere Schoolroom on Saturday evening when a 1 social gathering, was tendered to Miss Nina Sage, who has taken up war work. An enjoyable time was spent in dancing to music played by Miss Mary Herrick, accompanied by Mr A. Daysh on his accordion. Extras which were much appreciated, were played by Miss B. James and Mr A. R. Daysh. A Monte Carlo waltz was won by Miss McLean and Mr A. B. Card. Mr A. E. Reid was an efficient M.C. Mr A. E. Reid, on behalf of the settlers, presented Miss Sage with a writing companion, and in doing so wished her good luck and a safe return to Carterton. Mr W. Sage returned thanks on behalf of his sister. Personal. Mr and Mrs E. G. Thorne, who have resided at Carrington for over 20 years will shortly leave the district and take up their residence in Carterton, Mr Thorne having acquired a property in Lincoln Road. The settlers of Carrington and Belvedere will tender a social gathering -to Mr and Mrs Thorne at the Belvedere Schoolroom on Friday evening next.

REGENT THEATRE “WINGS AND THE WOMAN.” The brilliant drama, “Wings and the Woman.” featuring Ann Neagle and Robert Newton, will be finally shown tonight.
