MEAT RATIONING
ADOPTION IN CANADA.
MINIMUM PRICES FIXED
OTTAWA, May 22.
Meat rationing by coupon will become effective in Canada on May 27. Each individual will be entitled to spend two meat coupons a week. For rationing purposes meat is divided into four groups. Meats in Group A are valued at Alb., in Group B at 21b., in Group C at lib., and in Group D at 11 lbs., per coupon. Consequently, in Group A. which is made up of boneless meats, the individual may have 11b. of meat a week; in Group D 2|lbs. a week.
To curb any attempts to black market, the slaughterer will be required to stamp all meat. Public caterers will be brought under the meat rationing. A system which began with meatless Tuesdays on May 4 will be supplement-
ed and broadened. A series of minimum prices for beef is established to prevent any undue drop in the market as a result of the rationing. .
