» BUILDING SOCIETY ANNUAL MEETING. (“Times-Age” Special.) Mr L. H. Smart presided over the annual meeting of the Wairnrapa Terminating Building Society. Messrs. L. H. Smart and J. Steel were reelected directors. An appropriation of £6OO went to Mr A. L. Bull, of Greytown. Personal Items. Corporal N. Campbell, son-in-law of Mr and Mrs Harold Rc-nall. has sent a tnessage from overseas stating that he is fit mid well. Corporal Campbell has taken part in the campaigns in Crete and Tunisia. Miss Nina Sage, a V.A.D., is to be given a social and presentation at the Belvedere Schoolroom tonight. It was only ascertained yesterday that Miss Sage had joined up with the army, and the residents of Belvedere and district have invited her to be the guest of honour tonight. Good music, floor and supper are assured. News was received in Carterton this morning of the death of Mr Harold Arcus, eldest son of Mrs and the late Charles Arcus, at the age of 34 years. Deceased who was a grandson of Mr T. S. Arcus, South Carterton. was born at Dalefield. He is survived by his mother, a son and two daughters. Picture Manager Assaulted. On. a charge of having assaulted Mr V. J. Lipinski, manager of the Regent Theatre, Carterton, last evening, Harold Stanelaus Donoghue was fined £2 with costs by Messrs W. C. M. Sorensen and P. A. Cole. J.P’s.. at the S.M. Court, and also to pay £1 for damage done to a pair of spectacles. Salvation Army. The Bandmaster of the Carterton Band, Mr Spooner, states that in appreciation of the services rendered by Captain and Mrs Waite, cf the Salvation Army, the band will play at their farewell on Tuesday evening at 7.30 o’clock. This gathering will be presided over by Major and Mrs Dick, and a short programme will be rendered. REGENT THEATRE "WINGS AND THE WOMEN.” The programme tonight will be headed by “Wings and the Women,” an outstanding drama featuring Anna Neagle and Robert Newton. _____ _ ____ i——
