CARTERTON

WEDDING BANKS—EAGLE. (“Times-Age” Special.) The altar at St. Mark’s Church, Carterton, was beautifully decorated for the occasion of the marriage of Freda Isobella, daughter of Mrs and the late Mr E. P. Eagle, to L.A.C. Melville lan Banks, second son of Mr and Mrs Robert Banks, Carterton. The Rev. W.-F. Stent officiated.

The bride, who was given away by a friend of the family, was attired in a classical gown of white embossed marocaine with silk lace bodice embroidered with crystal and pearl trimmings. The beautiful tulle veil, which was held in place with a double wreath of orange blossom, was kindly lent by a friend from Wellington. The bride carried a shower bouquet of freesias, white roses and maidenhair fern. The bridesmaid, Miss Lola Hopkins, made a charming contrast to the bridal white in her pretty pink taffeta frock, with tight fitting bodice and full skirt. She wore a tulle head dress and carried a bouquet to tone.

The bridegroom was attended by his brother, Mr Archie Banks, Wellington. Mrs Bath presided at the organ, and the hymn, “The Voice that Breathed O’er Eden,” was sung before the wedding ceremony.

At the reception, held in the Masonic Hall, Mrs Eagle received the guests. She was attired in a navy tailored costume with navy accessories and a pastel shoulder spray. When leaving for the honeymoon, which was spent in the north, the bride was attired in a navy tailored costume with navy accessories and fur coat, the gift of the bridegroom. The bridegroom’s gift to the bridesmaid was a handsome gold brooch. Visitors for the wedding were present from Wellington, Masterton, Turakina, Eketahuna, Marton and Pahiatua.

It is a story of much appeal. Another feature, “Atlantic Convoy,” with Bruce Bennett and John Beal contains thrills aplenty.
