SOVIET THRUST
TOWARDS KERCH STRAITS REPORTED BY NAZIS PENETRATION OF DEFENCES ADMITTED. RUSSIANS EXPECTING BIG GERMAN OFFENSIVE. LONDON, May 27. A Russian advance in the, Kuban area is reported tonight by the German news agency, which states that several Red Army divisions have broken through the German defences in the direction of the Kerch Straits. There is no confirmation of this report from Moscow.
Most reports from the Soviet capital discuss the possibility of a big German offensive, which the “Red Star” expects to begin at any moment with massed panzer assaults.
