POWER SHORTAGE
CERTAIN PROHIBITIONS IN FORCE. In an advertisement in another column the Tararua Electric Power Board directs attention to an order issued, pursuant to the Supply Control Regulations, 1939, and the Electricity Emergency Regulations, 1 1939, by the Dominion Electricity Controller, who requires all electrical supply authorities concerned to enforce it. The order, which came into force yesterday (May 27) applies to the whole of the North Island.
Owners or occupiers of the types of premises specified in the advertisement who use electricity for heating such premises would be well advised to make themselves thoroughly con-, versant with the order, as would also owners or occupiers of premises using the type of lighting referred to. The Tararua Power Board officials appeal to the loyalty of the consumers concerned and trust there will not be one case where it will be necessary to take the steps authorised in the order to enforce it. These officials desire to be as helpful as possible and would be most pleased to let anyone interested read through the order at the Power Board office and also to discuss any points that may be in doubt.
At present every loyal citizen has Q a duty to perform in not wasting electricity. Matters are now at danger point. Consumers are urged not to help the enemy by wasting electricity, but to save it and so assist in making ammunition to hurl at the enemy.
