MISSIONARY AUXILIARY
MASTERTON METHODIST CHURCH. SOCIAL AFTERNOON YESTERDAY. There was a good attendance of members at the social afternoon held in the Methodist Schoolroom yesterday by the Masterton Methodist Church Women’s Missionary Auxiliary. The hall was tastefully decorated with bowls of chrysanthemums by Mesdames V. Grantham and C. Goudge. Mrs H. Goodman was in the chair and welcomed the members of the League of Mothers Choir, who rendered three glees, “Fairy Boat,” “Early one Morning” and “Lullaby” (Brahms), Mrs Miller Hope being the accompaniste. Mrs W. H. Watson then played two piano solos, “Charmeuse” and “Serenade” (Drdla).
An account of the opening of the new Maori Youth Centre in Auckland by the Rev. E. T. Olds and Princess Piur, was read by Mrs L. Jansen, and a musical monologue “The Little Brook,” was given by Mrs Leadley. Afternoon tea was served and Mrs Major Dick, of Whatman Home, gave an interesting talk on youth training, and told of her experiences as an officer in Wellington and elsewhere. Mrs Goodman proposed a vote of thanks to the speaker and singers, and the meeting closed with the pronouncing of the Benediction.
