CARTERTON TAXIS

NEW LICENCE GRANTED

An application by F. P. Fitzgerald for a taxi licence, to operate in Carterton, was granted by Mr P. J. Skoglund, No. 2 Transport Licensing Authority, at today’s sitting of the Authority in Masterton. An objection to the granting of a licence was made by Mr j. M. Laing on behalf of Messrs Swain and Williams, taxi proprietors, of Carterton.

Mr D. L. Taverner, who appeared for the applicant, stated that the present taxi service in Carterton was inadequate. He alleged that calls at night were not answered. Mr Skoglund, in granting the licence, said the allegations made by Mr Taverner would be investigated.
