ON BEHALF OF POLAND IN KUSSIA. ATTEMPT TO SMOOTH OUT DISPUTE. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) CANBERRA, May 25. Australia will take over the representation of Polish interests in Russia. Political commentators view as important Australia's effort to assist to smooth out the dispute which has recently threatened Allied harmony. In announcing that the Commonwealth would take over the representation of Polish interests in Russia which has been interrupted by the breach between the Polish and Soviet Governments, the Prime Minister, Mr Curtin, said that Australia had made the move with a view to promoting the common interests of the United Nations.

The proposal had been agreed to by the Soviet and Polish Governments and the Australian legation at Kuibyshev, from a date to be arranged; would represent Poland. The arrangement had been facilitated in its final stages by the presence of the Minister of External Affairs, Dr. Evatt, in Washington, and it was made with the full knowledge and approval of Mr Churchill and President Roosevelt.
