RATIONING COUPONS

PRESENTATION OF BOOKS MOST ESSENTIAL. In spite of the widespread publicity already given to the procedure governing the use of ration books, some people still appear to be under a misapprehension of the position. It should be clearly understood that the domestic ration book is for the use only of the person to whom it is issued, or any immediate member of the family, and on no account can coupons be presented loose to the retailers. Special sheets of coupons are issued, for additional rationed items, where necessary, to children over five years; also to members of the armed forces for their own use and for the purchase of goods to be sent to prisoners of war. Special clothing permits are issued to visiting service men.
