PIRINOA

TRIBAL COMMITTEE EUCHRE TOURNEY & DANCE. (“Times-Age” Special.) The Pirinoa Tribal Committee is holding a euchre party and dance in the Memorial Hall on Friday, June 4. Interspersed with the dancing will be hakas, poi dances and instrumental and vocal items. The Pukio juvenile poi dancers will also contribute items. The committee is fortunate in obtaining the services of Carter’s Dance Band from the Horowhenua district. Te Maari’s Orchestra will also assist in the dance music. A produce stall besides other attractions is being provided for. The usual charges are being made and the proceeds will be in aid of the Maori War Effort. The committee is making every effort to ensure a successful evenings entertainment. Given favourable conditions, there should be a large attendance.

Mr and Mrs M. McLeod, Palliser Bay, were visitors to Masterton yesterday. Mrs Owens is staying with her daughter, Mrs Gordon Sutherland. The Misses Hutana and Te Maari, of the Pukeora Sanitorium nursing staff, return to Waipukurau tomorrow.

Miss Cole, who has been relieving at the local post office, has returned to .Wellington. Miss M. Lovegrove, who has been on her annual leave, has resumed her duties at the post office. Mr and Mrs R. Piripi have returned from a visit to Wanganui.
