RUGBY FOOTBALL

BRIGHT AND OPEN PLAY. A WIN FOR A.D.U. TEAM. The Rugby football match played between Masterton A grade and A.D.U. on Saturday afternoon at Rugby Park was won by A.D.U. by 11 points to 8, after a bright and open game. A.D.U. had their first game of the season and shaped very well. With a few more games they promise to become a firstclass team. A.D.U. had the advantage of a heavy forward pack, while Masterton fielded a smart back line which time and again broke through the A.D.U. backs. They were unfortunate in not scoring more tries. A.D.U. scored two tries, and converted one and kicked a penalty goal. Masterton scored a converted try and kicked a penalty goal. WELLINGTON RESULTS. Wellington Rugby results are: —Marist Bros. Old Boys beat Fortress Maoris, 28/0; Hutt beat Army, 12/9; Wellington College Old Boys beat Wellington, 16/6; Petone beat Athletic, 14/13; Navy drew with University, 10/10; Seatoun beat Miramar, 38/12; Poneke-Oriental beat Eastbourne, 26/6; Johnsonville beat A.N.A.
