AXIS CLAIM

THE EUROPEAN HARVEST. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, May 22. “The harvest on the Continent promises to be the best of the war,” said the Luxemburg radio. “Germany and Italy will be able to supply 80 to 85 per cent of their requirements of corn from the home production, and the occupied eastern districts will make up the balance. The harvest in Spain and the Scandinavian countries also promises to be considerably better than last year.”

Last Wednesday the Stockholm correspondent of the “Daily Express,” reporting specially severe droughts in central Europe,’ stated that the whole harvest there would be ruined unless rain fell within 14 days.
