LIGHTWEIGHT TITLE

WON BY 808 MONTGOMERY IN NEW YORK (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) NEW YORK, May 22. Bob Montgomery, 1341 b, won the world lightweight championship, outpointing Beau Jack, 1351 b, in 15 rounds at Madison Square Garden. The “New York Times” says that though Montgomery absorbed a firstround beating which threatened to blast him into quick submission, he fought back so effectively that there was not a single dissenting voice when the decision was announced. Jack, the victor in his previous 16 fights, showed almost complete lack of punching power.
