RHINE BRIDGES
MINED BY THE GERMANS ACCORDING TO RETURNED BELGIAN WORKERS. PEOPLE OF BOMBED AREAS LIVING MISERABLY. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 9.50 a.m.) RUGBY, May 21. The Germans have mined the Rhine bridges at Cologne and are building fortifications along both banks of the river, according to reports by Belgian workers who had been deported to Germany and have now returned home, states the Belgian News Agency, in the Rhineland many of the inhabitants of bombed areas live very miserably in temporary shelters.
